The night of October the 31st, Halloween, a night that is increasingly becoming important in our country being common to see how our streets are decorated and the scares and the theme of terror reign.

In particular, Halloween in Benidorm offers endless activities and entertainment of all kinds, for all ages, so you can spend unforgettable days with friends and family.

What to do on Halloween in Benidorm with your family?

Theme Parks for everyone

As a first option, we will talk about the theme parks, which from October the 3rd to November the 1st will offer a hilarious and huge variety of shows, entertainment and activities if you want to spend this Halloween in family, and for all ages.

Mundomar

This park in Benidorm, Mundomar, specialised in marine and exotic animals is prepared to release its familiar Halloween.

Characters like witches, skeletons and ghosts will become regular in the park. It will also transformed itself to offer a real experience of terror wherever you go.

It will also offer several themed shows including: the mythical "Trick or Treat" or the new show "Blancaluna and the 7 parrots".

And as a special show for the next October the 31st, they will have "The Phantom of the Opera" in its extended version. A Halloween party in style, it will be represented in the dolphinarium with exercises conducted by the dolphins themselves and their coaches.

Terra Mitica

From October the 3rd, Terra Mitica with the slogan "You will shout like never before" was transformed for the occasion into a terrifying place where really sinister beings wander.

You'll encounter zombies, mummies, among others ... and scenes of terror, like a little enchanted forest, spooky cemeteries and a swarm of spiders, among many others.

The park will also offer a radical change in its shows. We will be able to enjoy more than a dozen shows, we highlight these ones in between them: "The Coven", "Amonet" or "The Infernal Cut."

And finally, on October the 31st, Halloween night par excellence ... the park will have many surprises prepared for us.

Exclusive shows, passages of terror, animation with the most gruesome characters, a themed dinner, definitely, everything necessary for families to enjoy an unforgettable Halloween.

Terra Natura

Terra Natura, does not forget Halloween, and, from October the 16th, it will offer all customers various activities such as magic tricks, passages of terror, makeup workshops, gymkhana and street animations.

The facilities will be transformed to give a special atmosphere in between animals and with a great themed horror tour with activities for all ages.

Furthermore, the park will offer great shows with animals as main characters, it will be ideal for families to enjoy.

What to do on Halloween with friends in Benidorm?

Zombie Edition in Benidorm

The resort Magic Natura will offer a very special weekend to the young people for Halloween in Benidorm, the Zombie Edition Reality Experience. A live role experience that undoubtedly will become the perfect opportunity for many to enjoy and to get into a true experience of terror.

The zombie invasion takes place at the complex from the 30th to the 31st of October. The event will feature the participation of more than 50 actors characterized for the show during the day, but by nightfall ... everything will change.

The invasion will give start to the live game, in which participants must overcome several tests through a gymkhana. Their main objective will be to prevent global apocalypse. They must flee, try to survive and help eliminate the undead. An event you cannot miss.

Clubs Benidorm

The nightclubs in Benidorm will offer a session in which you will not stop dancing, jumping, shouting and laughing until dawn with more than a dozen DJs.
One of the nightclubs will held a special tribute to the horror film REC and it will present a special macro decoration.

An alternative for those who prefer a night of Halloween in a place with commercial music, EDM, reggaeton, future house, electro house.

Benidorm campsites receive the Quality Label.

On October the 8th, the prize-giving "City of Benidorm" was held in the auditorium of the town hall of Benidorm, on the occasion of the World Tourism Day.

In the event, which also featured the presence and participation of the Secretary of State for Tourism, Isabel Borrego, the companies that are already credited within the Integral System of Tourist Quality in Destinations (SICTED) were awarded with their certificate, we remark specially the campsites in Benidorm, Villamar and Villasol.

What is SICTED?
SICTED certificate belongs to the huge project to improve quality of tourist destinations promoted by the General Secretariat of Tourism and the Spanish Federation of
Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).

It works with companies / tourist services of up to 29 different trades that influence the experience and satisfaction of tourists visiting the destination.

This project bases its system, among other tools, in the application of a manual of Good Practices, which vary depending on the trade.

Besides working groups develop proposals for improvements on destination and assessments for the “education" of the company or service to generate quality standards. These evaluations culminate in obtaining the distinctive for Tourist Quality Commitment.

Mª Carmen Sellés, Director of the Villasol and the Villamar campsites talks about her experience.

We have made some questions to Mª Carmen Sellés, Director of the Villasol and the Villamar campsites, to know first-hand what this whole project meant and its subsequent inclusion into the system of tourist quality for the campsites in Benidorm, Villamar and Villasol.

Mª Carmen, considering all that the SICTED huge project comprehends, what has meant to the campsites participating in the project?

"Given that the campsites are not attached to any quality system, this has been a great challenge and the truth is that it has been a great learning by the entire team that we are."

"Although we were following all the tourist legislation affecting us, the course involved a restructuring of all the documentation, as well as, the creation of a manual of good practices, improving our internal management, especially the processes related with customer satisfaction.”

Has there been any specific chapter that has had to get more attention?

"No, there has not been any noteworthy aspect. Although we do not formally have a quality management system in the campsites, we do practice a philosophy of continuous improvement. This management philosophy is transmitted through the constant improvement of our installations and services”

And finally, what is the importance of having this label for your campsites?

"Mainly, the importance of participating in the biggest quality tourism project developed in Spain along with thousands of companies."

"And, of course, the value of certifying our daily work, our commitment and the inclusion of a control of the Tourism Quality system which increases the competitiveness within the sector, and collaborate this way with the city of Benidorm in obtaining its own quality certificate."

Tourism in Benidorm, over a hundred years of history

Since tourism leisure spread, the coast has always been a powerful attraction for tourists. The east coast and, by extension, Benidorm has a long history of over one hundred years of relationship with tourism, which is why today has a large infrastructure ready for the many visitors who continually receives. Campings in Benidorm, apartment complexes, hotel, the wide range of daytime and evening entertainment ... an entire infrastructure to serve the tourist.

The custom of "taking baths" perhaps copied from the wealthy and renowned families of Europe that used to travel to Baden Baden or Biarritz, is one of the first manifestations of tourism of which there is evidence in Benidorm.

The first known tourist brochure dating from 1893 in Benidorm is about the Baths of Virgin of Suffrage. At this time visitors came to the coast to take advantage of the medicinal and healing properties of sea water baths, which were so popular in Europe.

And that is how the tourist history of Benidorm begins...

Infrastructures, key in the history of tourism in Benidorm
As in many other attractive areas for visitors, tourism development in Benidorm is accompanied by the construction of infrastructure, especially roads. During the early years of the twentieth century the Silla-Alicante road opens, which improves communication with Benidorm, and, above all, the arrival of the railroad to Alicante occurs.

In 1914 the narrow gauge railroad, the Trenet of the Marina, links Alicante with Altea, Benidorm, and Villajoyosa and, shortly after, Denia. The arrival of the train makes the first collective movements of tourists appear; the so-called "train jug", which transports tourists from Alcoy, Alicante or even from Madrid. The curious name "train of the botijo" starts by the custom of these first tourists of carrying earthenware pitchers with fresh water to bear better the long journey in those slow and uncomfortable trains.

Another infrastructure that contributes to the arrival of mass tourism to Benidorm is the city itself. In 1956 the City Council approved urban planning that directed the city in a definitive way towards tourism. Wide avenues, respect the natural orientation of the beaches, accessibility and vertical growth of the city (hotels, apartments) foster tourism growth that occurs in Benidorm from this decade.

Today Benidorm is "the Manhattan of the Mediterranean", the town with more skyscrapers per capita in the world, behind only the US city in number of skyscrapers per square meter.

Foreign tourism, the key to growth in Benidorm
With the arrival of foreign tourists...bikinis came too. But, for Franco's Spain this bath wear was far too provocative. A fine of 40,000 pesetas made the visionary mayor, Pedro Zaragoza, who saw the future of tourism in Benidorm, climb on his Vespa and drive the 400 kilometres to Franco’s residence to ask him to legalize bikinis. The "mayor of the Vespa" got his prize and Benidorm was the first city in Spain in which people could wear bikinis while in the rest of Spain was banned.

The 60's were the years of the boom of tourism, especially foreign tourism, in Benidorm.

A fully vertical city, specially prepared to welcome visitors, sun, beach and great weather make Benidorm an international tourist centre. During that time the population living in Benidorm multiplied itself, from around 3.000 at the late 50s to over 12.000 in 1970. This increase in the population consists mainly of the large number of tourists coming to the city not only in summer; Benidorm has become a resort town throughout the year.

The Festival of Benidorm, a tourist attraction in itself
Perhaps the most widespread song from the Benidorm Festival is the one of Julio Iglesias in 1968 when he won the competition with the song "La vida sigue igual", since Iglesias becomes the image of the Festival for the following years. The Spanish Song Festival started in 1959 based on the Festival of San Remo in Italy, its main target was to present Spanish artists. Its stage has hosted stars like Julio Iglesias, the Duo Dinámico or Raphael in those 60s when the Festival had a deserved international reputation.

Nowadays Benidorm is the tourist town par excellence of the Spanish Mediterranean coast. Its mild climate throughout the year, its infrastructure and good communication both by air and land makes it a desired destination by both domestic and foreign tourists looking to enjoy their holidays in Benidorm.
